Alabama Hills Stewardship Group Meeting and Community Potluck Set

The next Alabama Hills Stewardship Group meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 10 at the Beverly and Jim Rogers Museum of Lone Pine Film History in Lone Pine. A community potluck will follow the meeting. The public is invited and encouraged to bring a dish to share.

Secretary of the Interior Kempthorne Presents Alabama Hills Stewardship Group in California With Cooperative Conservation Award for Earth Day

WASHINGTON, D.C.—At a ceremony in the nation’s capital today, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne recognized the Alabama Hills Stewardship Group in California as one of 21 recipients nationwide of  the Department of the Interior’s Cooperative Conservation Award.

 Alabama Hills Stewardship Summary 

In November of 2006, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Committee met in Lone Pine and encouraged local leaders to work with BLM to frame a community strategy to maintain the character of the Alabama Hills.  Since that time, a number of meetings sponsored by the community have occurred.  A summary of the actions to date are as follows:
